A language-learning success story
Language Learners Who Changed Their Lives
Maya, who works at a hospital, has completed three courses and has been practising English online since January. Before she joined a club, she had believed she was too shy. One evening, while she was travelling home, she met Leo, who said that small daily goals were effective. Maya used to avoid conversations, but Leo would send a voice message every day. Learners must practise regularly and may be encouraged by feedback; weekly goals are set, and members are expected to record progress. Leo asked whether Maya had enough time and told her to speak for ten minutes. If learners practise, they will improve; if Maya had more free time, she would volunteer abroad. If she had stopped earlier, she would have missed this opportunity. She wishes she had started sooner. Furthermore, a number of learners succeed with little money; however, few progress without support. Consequently, the club is recommended.
- Where does Maya work?
- What did Leo send Maya every day?
- What are club members expected to record?
- What is the article’s final recommendation?
